Pokemon Gold and Silver
Pokemon Gold and Silver Versions are set in the brand new Johto region. Here, you'll find a many new Pokemon, including the legendary mascots, Ho-oh (Gold) and Lugia (Silver).
Many new features appeared with the arrival of Gold and Silver. First off, there is a time feature, clearly distinguising between day and night. Remember this, as it will come into play as you evolve certain Pokemon. In addition, you'll see that the happiness of you Pokemon will affect their preformance, and even decide if a Pokemon evolves or not. Last but definetely not least, there's the introduction of "shiny" Pokemon, very rare pokemon that are the same as a normal pokemon except in a different color scheme.
In Pokemon Silver Version you will be able to capture Lugia at level 40 and Ho-oh at level 70, In Pokemon Gold Version you will be able to capture Ho-oh at level 40 and Lugia at level 70. The level 70 legendary can be caught after defeating the Elite Four and Champion and gaining access to the Kanto Region.
